How to Find Hidden Chats on WhatsApp
Why Hide Chats?
People hide WhatsApp chats for various reasons, such as privacy concerns, managing excessive conversations, or hiding sensitive information from unauthorized access.
Hiding chats helps declutter the main chat list, making it easier to find and access frequently used chats.
Finding Hidden Chats
Method 1: Search Bar
Open WhatsApp and tap on the search bar at the top of the screen. Type in the name or number of the hidden contact or group you're looking for. If the chat is hidden, it will appear in the search results.
Method 2: Archived Chats
WhatsApp automatically archives chats that have been inactive for a certain period. To find archived chats, scroll down to the bottom of the main chat list and tap on "Archived Chats." The hidden chat will be listed here.
Method 3: Notification Panel
If you received a message from a hidden chat, it may still appear in your notification panel. Tap on the notification to open the chat.
Method 4: File Manager
For Android users, you can use a file manager app to access hidden WhatsApp chats. Navigate to the "WhatsApp" folder on your device's internal storage and then to the "Databases" folder. Here, you will find a file named "msgstore.db.crypt12." Copy this file to a safe location.
Next, download and install a SQLite database browser, such as DB Browser for SQLite. Open the copied "msgstore.db.crypt12" file in the database browser. In the "sqlite_master" table, you can find a list of all WhatsApp chats, including hidden ones.
Unhiding Chats
To unhide a chat, simply open the chat and tap on the "Unarchive Chat" button located at the top of the screen.
Additional Tips
If you're unable to find a hidden chat using the above methods, it may have been permanently deleted.
To prevent others from accessing your hidden chats, it's recommended to set up a screen lock or use a third-party app that provides additional security features.
