Pope Francis Recognizes Second Miracle

On May 23, 2024, Pope Francis recognized the second miracle needed for the canonization of Italian Blessed Carlo Acutis. This step brings the young computer programmer closer to becoming a saint in the Catholic Church. Acutis died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15.

Medical Council Approves Miracle

The Medical Council of the Congregation for Saints' Causes has expressed a positive opinion on an alleged miracle attributed to Acutis. The miracle involved a woman from Costa Rica who was suffering from a severe stomach illness. After praying to Acutis, she reportedly experienced a complete recovery.

Two Miracles Required for Canonization

Under Catholic Church rules, two miracles must be attributed to a candidate for canonization before they can be declared a saint. The first miracle for Acutis was recognized in 2020, involving the healing of a Brazilian boy with a rare pancreatic condition.
