2 Letter 3 Number System Used To Designate Stateroom Location

Cruise Ship Staterooms: Location is Key

2-Letter, 3-Number System Used to Designate Stateroom Location

Middle of the Ship Offers Prime Real Estate

Just like in real estate, the closer you are to the middle of the ship, the more prime the real estate. Cruise ships typically use a two-letter, three-number system for naming each room on board. The first letter indicates the deck, the second letter indicates the section of the ship, and the numbers indicate the room number. For example, a room numbered A101 would be located on Deck A, in section 1, and would be room number 101.

The middle of the ship is considered to be the most desirable location for a stateroom, as it is the least likely to experience motion sickness. Staterooms located at the front or back of the ship tend to be more susceptible to movement, especially in rough seas. If you are prone to motion sickness, it is best to book a room in the middle of the ship.

In addition to location, the size and amenities of staterooms can vary depending on the cruise line and ship. Some staterooms have balconies, while others do not. Some staterooms have private bathrooms, while others share a bathroom with other rooms. When choosing a stateroom, it is important to consider your needs and budget.
